HYLTON SC 2 V 3 SHILDON RESERVES

A game with very close score lines in previous matches but Hylton had an advantage with a home win in the county cup and expected another but Shildon reserves thought otherwise. It was Hylton who dominated from the start but could not find that clear cut finish, Kevin humble took action with a fine solo effort. 1-0 Shildon steady them and took advantage of Hylton on the counter attack, a low shot cleared off the line only to hit the defender on the ankle and found its way into the bottom corner. 1-1 Hylton pressed on and didn’t let this faze them, some fine play from midfield let in humble and he made no mistake, slotting in his second of the game. 2-1 ht Shildon came out second half a different team, winning battles in the middle of the park, first 15 mins Hylton were pushed back and with a mistake from the right full back Shildon were 1 on 1 and the striker slotted home. 2-2 After this Hylton turned up the heat with the Shildon keeper being the busiest of the two keepers but Hylton couldn't find a way through, with Shildon pushed back, reverted to long balls which Hylton found difficult to deal with and a miss placed pass from Hylton’s 18 yard box let in Shildon who scored with ease against the run of play. The game ended Hylton 2-3 Shildon. A fine battling performance from Shildon who never gave up and deserved the 3 points.

BISHOP AUCKLAND RESERVES 4 V 1 MURTON AFC
These two teams met each other for the second week running, with the home side full of confidence from their previous 8-1 victory. The game was very different however, with Murton much more competitive and physical than the previous encounter. The first half was an edgy affair, with Murton having a couple of long range effort going well wide. Bishop's looked composed and took the lead on 40 minutes after a perfect Callum Sweeney cross from the right found Lewis Dunn whose looping header was perfect into the far corner. The lead should have been doubled as Conner McEvoy was played through, only to somehow put his effort wide! The second half started brightly as Lewis Dunn doubled his tally. Michael Owen's perfect ball into the right channel was neatly crossed by Alex Cantwell, for Dunn to round the keeper. This seemingly kick started the pacy Bishop's attack. Callum Sweeny fired just over, before man of the match Dunn was fouled. Alex Cantwell missed the penalty, but converted the rebound. Murton found a way back into the game from another penalty, before Dunn notched his hat trick after a powerful run from Liam Bain allowed Dunn to simply tap in at the far post.
