BRANDON UNITED RESERVES 0 V 3 HORSLEY HILL FC
On a very misty cold night Brandon entertained high flying Horsley Hill at the Welfare Ground. The heavy rain over the previous 24 hrs meant that the Brandon pitch was soft and would test the player’s stamina. Horsley were quickly on the attack from the kick off and Brandon's defence was under considerable pressure. That turned out to be the story of the first half with Brandon on the back foot and a youthful and exuberant Horsley side being full of running. This limited Brandon to a few breakaway chances but they held out until the 40th minute before conceding to give Horsley a 1-0 lead at half time. In the second half Brandon had the slope and finally showed some attacking flair but for Horsley to score their second in the 65th minute. With the clock running down and some very tired Brandon legs on the pitch Horsley ran in three more goals in the last 15 minutes. Final score a possibly unjust 5-0 to Horsley. Horsley Hill were the best footballing side seen at Brandon for some time, full of running, passing and movement. A very good game of football to watch and after Brandon's Heroics at Wallsend at the weekend a little disappointing to lose so heavily. Goal scorers for Horsley Hill were Davison, Foster, Watson, Bell and Taylor. Man of the match for Horsley was Frankie Hucks and for Brandon was veteran keeper Bryan Potts.
