22-08-2015: Blackhill and Ebchester v Killingworth YPC

Match report:
Blackhill and Ebchester first game of the season at their new home seen one of the new teams in the league visit. In a game which started evenly, with both teams getting the ball down and playing football on the floor, it was Blackhill and Ebchester who took the lead. They worked the ball out to the left and a good cross in from Dan Reed found the head of Dan Parker, he nodded it past the keeper to give the home team the advantage. An even first half ending 1-0 to the home side.

The second half started much the same with both teams matching each other. The first piece of action came with 20 minutes to go, Killingworth forward picked up the ball and ran through the heart of the defence before coolly slotting the ball into the bottom corner to make it 1-1. It wasn't long before Killingworth then took the lead, some good play down the right hand side from the Killingworth player and he fired in a low ball which was turned in to give them the lead. Blackhill and Ebchester came back looking to get the equaliser and were unlucky not to have it through Parker again, he got his head to a good ball in and found the back of the nett only for it to be ruled offside.

A good game ending with Killingworth taking the 3 points.

22-08-2015: Hartlepool FC Res v Redcar Town

Match report:
Hartlepool FC were always going to be up against it with keeper Campbell, centre halves Duncan and Cope and centre midfielders Ross Kidson and Tom Hickey all unavailable but this was a great chance for FC to show what they were made of. It was a positive start for both teams in the initial stages with FC having the first chance as a neat ball through the defence by Dom Laffin just failed to connect with striker Karl Hammond. Two more chances fell to FC both from Elliott Beddow with one being blocked by his own defender and the other over the bar. A very organised Redcar soaked up up the pressure and had a great chance in the 22nd minute. FC defenders Andrew Sullivan and Ryan Peart failed to connect with a through ball and the Town striker raced clear only to smash his shot into the side netting. FC keeper Gary Fleethan then had to do some desperate defending by running to the bye line and thankfully won a tackle. Redcar were coming into the game more and more and well taken set piece by them was saved on the line by the FC keeper. Another chance come Redcar's was when Andy Bell had a free header but put his effort over the bar. With ten minute from the break FC took the lead when, from a free kick the impressive Kyle Alexander found Sam Harrison who dropped the ball for Karl Hammond to blast home.

Half time : Hartlepool FC Res 1 - Redcar Town 0

The second half was a completely different affair. FC has to make two changes at half time and lost captain Dom Laffin through injury and had to reshuffle the pack. FC didn't cope well with the changes and Redcar saw their opportunity. Redcar piled the pressure on as FC lost their way. Kyle Alaxander was having a great game for FC but his efforts weren't helped by poor possession and sloppy play. Redcar got their just rewards in the 69th minute when Jamie Lee had a free header from a corner and headed in from close range. Redcar had two quick free kicks in succession and FC were putting in some desperate defending. In the 80th minute calamitous defending by FC allowed the Redcar winger to cut inside from near the corner flag and whip a low cross in. Fleetham got his hand to it but Ryan Bennions forced the ball over the line for a well deserved victory for Redcar.
