MONDAY SEPTEMBER 1ST 2014

MURTON AFC 0 V 4 SHERBURN VILLAGE WMC FC

Sherburn ran out comfortable winners in a game which started out with Murton pressing and creating early chances however after 20 minutes Sherburn took the league and control of the game and led at the break 2-0. Both teams created chances in the second half however it was Sherburn who deservedly ran out easy winners adding a further 2 goals to make the final score Murton 0 Sherburn 4.

WHEATLEY HILL WMC FC 2 V 1 SEDGEFIELD NETPark

Tonight's game started well, both teams playing attacking football. Wheatley hill were the first to get on the score sheet with a cool finish from Stuart Softly. Wheatley really kicked on from there and managed to grab another before half time with some brilliant play and a nice finish from David Jackson. Wheatley hill missed some great chances to put the game to bed and Sedgefield capitalised on it with Philip Bland grabbing a goal 20 mins from the end. From there Sedgefield really pushed on throwing everything at the Wheatley hill goal and with some great goalkeeping, good defending and a bit of luck, Wheatley hill managed to hold on for the 3 points.

HYLTON SC 5 V 1 BISHOP AUCKLAND RESERVES

A weakened Hylton team face Bishop Auckland Reserves but Hylton’s pace and new marksman soon had Bishop chasing the game, Bishop worked hard closing Hylton players down but were 2-0 down in a blink of an eye with a Pattison low shot and a dubious penalty, Bishop pulled one back but Hylton didn’t let this faze them and pushed on for a 5-1 win. Bishop Auckland worked hard and they were a well organised team with pace, but Hylton on the night were strong enough for the 3 points. Well done both teams, a pleasure to watch.

HARTLEPOOL FC RESERVES 2 V 3 COUNDON & LEEHOLME YOUTH FC

Newly formed Hartlepool FC Res entertained table topping Coundon and Leeholm and although walked away with nothing can certainly hold their heads up high having lost a thrilling encounter 3-2. FC showed little nerves as they played some neat football. The back four worked really well against the sharp striking partnership of Coundon. It was FC that showed first with The Coundon defence struggling with the pace and strength of striker Carl O'Sullivan. It was the home side who went ahead when Elliott Beddow played Larkin in who crossed perfectly for O'Sullivan to head home. With shouts of keep it tight Coundon showed their experience and capitalised within a minute of the kick off to equalise and then pile the pressure on to nudge in front with 3 minute let of the half. FC Started the 2nd half with confidence and drew level when keeper Ryan Harrisskitt reacted first to launch a ball forward and Beddow and O'Sullivan linked up well for the striker to claim his second. Sam Stallard hit the post for FC from 25 yards but a penalty was awarded on the half hour that the FC keeper got his hand to but couldn't keep out. FC pressed on but couldn't find that elusive equaliser. O'Sullivan bagged two and MOM for FC while best for Coundon was Darren Simpson
