SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 6TH 2014

SHILDON RESERVES 0 V 0 HYLTON SC

The home team were probably the most disappointed with the result after having the best of the chances in a scrappy encounter.

BRANDON UNITED RESERVES 0 V 4 SHERBURN VILLAGE WMC FC

Brandon's injury crisis struck again with three players failing to pass the warm up. Brandon fielded two debutants in Thomas Curry and Kriss Johnson who both performed very well. At half time only a Joe Simpson penalty divided the sides. However Brandon's injury problems worsened as Kyle Tindale was unable to start the second half and Daniel McDonough had to leave the field on 70 mins. Sherburn then ran in three more goals with Joe Simpson scoring his second and the others coming from Gary Dodds and Karl Hutchinson. Man of the match for Brandon was Captain Shaun Wilson and for Sherburn was Peter Ryder.

HORSLEY HILL FC 5 V 1 FERRYHILL TOWN

Horsley Hill FC put in another dominant display at home to beat Ferryhill Town 5-1, with the host’s goals coming from a Luke Patterson brace, Tom West, Andrew Taylor, and an OG. Despite going 2-0 in the lead in the first half, having missed a few great opportunities, Ferryhill came back into the game and threatened to narrow The Hill's lead. However the hosts fitness and fluidity on the ball ensured all 3 points by extending their lead in the 2nd half. Striker Luke Patterson was awarded Mom for his impressive performance.

MURTON AFC 0 V 1 COUNDON & LEEHOLME YOUTH FC

Coundon again narrowly edged Murton for the second time in the space of 3 days in what proved to be another tight affair. Coundon started of the better team however despite their dominance of possession they were unable to carve out any clear cut opportunities. Murton gradually came into the game however they also were unable to create any real clear cut opportunities.
The second half was similar with both teams being evenly match. It looked as though the game was heading for a draw until Coundon scored the only goal of the game with 5 minutes to go. A shot from the edge of the box was palmed away by the Murton keeper to an on running Coundon player who slotted home from close range.
Final score Murton 0 Coundon 1

LEAGUE CHALLENGE CUP ROUND 1

WALLSEND TOWN 4 V 1 SEDGEFIELD NETPark

Once again Wallsend town showed great strength and great form to carry on winning... But it wasn't an easy task by any means Sedgefield battle right to the end even with ten men they pulled level in first half after Derek graham for the home side opened the scoring with a lovely bit of football from Wallsend town. But it was the home side who came out stronger with a further two goals from Derek graham and fourth by man of the match Paul Gordon who put in a fine display and showed his quality

WASHINGTON AGED PEOPLES TROPHY ROUND 1

WHEATLEY HILL WMC FC 1 V 3 HARTLEPOOL FC RESERVES

Hartlepool started well unlike Wheatley hill, and was quickly in control of the game. And within 15 minutes Hartlepool were 1 nil up with a great header from the big centre half. Wheatley hill managed to hold on and go in at half time still 1 down. The second half started much the same, with Hartlepool doubling their lead within 10 minutes of the break. Wheatley hill began to find their feet and pulled 1 back from a great ball over the top and a good first time finish. Wheatley hill really pushed on looking for the equaliser which nearly came. Hartlepool however took advantage of Wheatley hill pressing up the field with a great counter attack and scoring there third to put the game to bed.
