EBCHESTER CONSETT RESERVES 1 V 3 HYLTON SC
The game started off with neither team stamping their authority on
the game. The first chance of the match gave us the first goal, The Sunderland
forward running on to a through ball before slotting it into the bottom corner.
Within 15 minutes Ebchester were level, a good run from the centre of the park
and Paul James lobbed it over the goalkeeper calmly to make it 1-1. Sunderland
then made it 2-1 not long before half time; a good ball in from the right left
the forward with the task of putting the ball into the net. Half time 2-1. Sunderland
started the better team in the second half, but neither team could really
create any openings. With 15 minutes left, Ebchester had a chance to equalise
but a fine save from goalkeeper kept them in front. 10 minutes left and
Sunderland overloaded the right hand side and found the forward in the middle
who left the keeper no chance with his finish.
CHESTER-LE-STREET WHITEHILL 4 V 0 HORSLEY HILL FC
Whitehill earned a comfortable 4-0 home win against Horsley Hill F.C. Whitehill were the first to test the visiting keeper and on 12 mins had the ball in the net only for the linesman to rule for offside. Both keepers made good saves in the first half but it was Whitehill who took the lead on 40 mins when Craig Mickle scored after he got on the end of a David Henderson through ball. H.T. 1-0 Whitehill were on top from the start of the second half and doubled their lead on 56 mins when a Michael Graver free kick was met by Craig Mickle who made it 2-0. Horsley never gave up and created two decent chances to close the deficit, but on the hour mark the game was put out of their reach when Craig Mickle completed his hat trick with a cool finish for 3-0. Whitehill wrapped up the points on 71 mins when Tommy Wray fired in from the edge of the box for 4-0.
HARTLEPOOL FC RESERVES 7 V 2 FERRYHILL TOWN
Hartlepool took 3 points but made hard work of things against a
Ferryhill side with the bare 11. Actually the visitors had to start with just
10 with one still travelling. The scoring was opened after 10 minutes when a
Jake Larkin cross was headed home by centre forward Craig Shipley. Not long
after Larkin made it 2 after a strong run, rounding the keeper and walking into
the net. Ferryhill rallied bit a deflected 30 yarder from Sam Stallard
increased the lead to 3. Sloppy defending and switching off enabled Ferryhill
to pull one back, luckily for Hartlepool the livewire Lewis Murphy was on hand
to race clear and slot home to make it 4-1. HT 4-1 The second half was more of the same, although Ferryhill seemed to get a second
wind. Murphy was on hand to calm nerves and increases the lead with another
calm finish. The game livened up with a bit of handbags following a strong
challenge by Stallard, the referee handled it well and two yellows calmed the
situation. Another lapse of concentration in defence allowed Ferryhill to score
again before a late Joe Evans header and a Rhys Guy strike finished the scoring
for 7-2. Best for Hartlepool was midfield maestro Ross Kidson.
WHEATLEY HILL WMC FC 1 V 0 BIRTLEY FC
The game started nicely with both teams very well organised and up
for todays match. After coming close with several chances, Wheatley hill where
the ones to break the deadlock when a handball in the Birtley 18 yard box left
the ref no choice but to give a penalty which was slotted away by David
Jackson. This left the Birtley players frustrated and the centre midfielder
receiving a yellow card for a late challenge. And within minutes the same
player received a second yellow for another rash challenge. Wheatley hill where
awarded another penalty shortly after for a foul in the area but this one was
brilliantly saved by the keeper. The game started to slow down a little late on
with Wheatley hill missing several more chances to put the game to bed and
managed to keep hold of the lead and the 3 points despite a couple of late
charges by Birtley.
