SHILDON RESERVES 3 V 5 SEDGEFIELD NETPark

The visitors ran out 5 3 winners in a topsy turvy game at scouts field.net Park took the lead early and looked comfortable until Shildon scored twice thru Kerry and mountain. Shildon then committed suicide in defence and allowed the visitors to go 5 2 up before Damon Ellis got a late goal in the gloom. Net parks scorers were bland and 3 from martin fields and an OG. Desperate times for the home team who need to rediscover last year’s sparkle.

EBCHESTER CONSETT RESERVES 0 V 2 HORSLEY HILL FC

In the early exchanges of the game it was Horsley Hill who was on top. They started brightly and were having the better of the play. Within the first 10 minutes they found themselves 1 up when Lucas broke the offside trap and found himself one on one with the goalkeeper. The forward kept his composure to slot the ball into the bottom corner. Horsley kept the pressure on after going 1 up and had another chance to put them further ahead but put the ball wide on this occasion. Ebchester started to pick up after this and the rest of the first half was fairly equal with no real chances to either side. Half Time and the away side 1 to the good. Second was a very equal half, neither team really creating too much in the way of chances and lacking real energy to take charge of the game. It was Horsley who got the all important second goal of the game; they nicked the ball in the middle of the field and broke quickly. They found themselves 3 on 2 and the forward poked the ball into the bottom corner for his and Horsley's second goal of the game. Ebchester had a good chance to grab one back soon after this when they found themselves 2 on 1 with the keeper but a good save prevented them scoring there 1 real chance. Horsley taking the points with a deserved victory.

WHEATLEY HILL WMC FC 4 V 1 HARTLEPOOL FC RESERVES

A game which Wheatley hill dominated and could have been more ended in a 4-1 victory to Wheatley Hill with a hatrick from Phillip Hickman and goal from Lee Westgarth

HYLTON SC 3 V 3 WALLSEND TOWN

Tonight Hylton host Wallsend who are yet to drop points in the league and they started the game the better team with Hylton finding it difficult to mark and pass wall send players on and getting caught in possession, Wallsend broke the deadlock after 20 minutes as the forward rounded the keeper, 0-1 Wallsend. This gave Hylton a huge lift and passed the ball well but couldn’t get the wing men into play with sharp closing down from Wallsend, at this point there was tackles a plenty and Hylton capitalised on a free kick which was floated to Luke morrow a glancing header hit the top corner. 1-1. HT 1-1 Second half would have been a very entertaining game for the neutral as both sides battled for possession it also lead the teams to play safe with long balls to the front men, then a long ball to Cassidy who was caught in the area! Penalty, Catchiside steps up 2-1. Wallsend kick off and a mistake from morrow let Wallsend in and the player made no mistake 2-2, Wallsend also went down to 10 men as a player had too much to say and was sent off for his second bookable offence. 2-2 Hylton did take advantage of this as mark curry on the left crossed the ball but it nestled into the bottom corner. Fluke 3-2, sorry mark. Wallsend used the long ball tactics at this point and gained a free kick 25 yards from goal. The Wallsend player wouldn’t be able to hit a sweeter shot if he tried, power drive to beat the keeper. 3-3 takes a bow son! Wallsend went down to 9 men with another second bookable offence 10 mins from time; Hylton put the pressure on but couldn’t find the goal needed. An enjoyable game from two good footballing sides, the cards shown were for back chat to the referee rather than malicious or deliberate tackles

BRANDON UNITED RESERVES 0 V 3 CHESTER-LE-STREET WHITEHILL

Brandon United 0 Chester-le-Street Whitehill 3

A strong Whitehill’s side found Brandon hard to break down in the first half but they went in front with a well taken Tony Healer goal. The young Brandon players worked hard to limit Whitehill’s chances but goals from Alex Peake and a second from Tony Healer secured the three points. Credit to the Brandon players who never gave up. Brandon's Man of the Match was goalkeeper Joe Hammond playing his first full game in goal having spent the last few games as emergency centre forward. Man of the match for Whitehill was Michael Graver.
